Quicksand or Spa...? Written By, Amy

The Unbelievable Dialogue:

“What’s it like in there?” Asked Mary, peering down at Rita. Her chin was resting above the quicksand that was slowly dragging her under.

“It’s quite warm actually, it’s a shame they don’t offer something similar at my local gym,” replied Rita.

“Oh, do you mean the Oultan Spa and Gym? Their pool is terrible, I’ve been complaining about it for years. Not deep enough and always too cold when you get in.”

“Exactly! Nothing like this, it’s bloody glorious in here. I was having a conversation about it with Fred before we left for Panama. I’m thinking about canceling my membership.

“I cancelled mine months ago. We should probably get moving soon. Shall I pass you a stick or something to help you out?”

“Oh let’s not rush, I’m enjoying myself too much. I wonder if quicksand helps you sweat out toxins?”

Something A Bit More Realistic:

“Rita, don’t move, it’ll drag you down quicker if you carry on doing that!” Cried Mary, frantically looking for something to help Mary out of the quicksand she’d just fallen into.

“It’s dragging me down either way Mary! Help!”

“Bare with me, I’m looking!”

“We’re in the middle of the Panama rainforest for god’s sake, surely there’s a stick you can throw me!”

“Not one that isn’t attached to a trunk. Just hold tight!”

Mary started pulling at a branch curved at shoulder height on the nearest tree.

“I shouldn’t have cancelled my membership, I don’t have the strength for this.”

“Well you better put your back into it Mary, I’m going under!”

“Oh god, help! Someone help!” Cried Mary
